An Appreciation Post
Right, in case you haven’t been following the Studio’s activities lately, we’re all in to making the Ultimate Edition for A Session with Dr. Liebnitz.
You can read all about that in the monthly devlogs, watch all about it on YouTube or TikTok and follow live updates on Twitter (or well…X).
I just wanted to make an appreciation post. Appreciation for all of you that have played the game, tested the game or just supported our social media channels. Appreciation also for the process of making games itself.
When I first started actually making games, I didn’t allow myself to enjoy it too much. I was particularly severe with myself, because I didn’t feel to “worthy” to be making games. Funnily enough, this “self-laceration” was something people could feel whilst playing my games too. Maybe not directly, but the feeling of restraint and rigidity slowly crept into my Game Design philosophy too.
With A Session with Dr. Liebnitz, I started allowing myself a little bit of fun. Indulging in some easter eggs, some fun level design choices…and this resonated with players too! The most fun players had whilst playing the demo for the Ultimate Edition were exactly the moments I had the most fun coding/creating from scratch. The moments where I allowed myself a little bit of levity…of breathing room.
So I wanted to make this appreciation post for all the players that helped me find the right way of making games, and to the art of making games and life itself.
Let yourself have fun….others will too! Share in the fun, share in the love.
